Collecting Data for Shore Leave Survey

May 8, 2009

by Deborah Blanchard, Staff Attorney

SCI will conduct its annual shore leave survey from May 17-23, 2009 in ports across North America and around the world. The shore leave survey aims to track issues involving seafarer access to shore leave and chaplain access to vessels in order to improve access without compromising security.  The 2009 survey will also focus on the impact of recent implementation of the Transportation Workers’ Identification Credential (TWIC) in ports across the United States, as well as on general port issues around the world.

If you would like to submit information regarding your port, please use our reporting form and send it to us by June 1, 2009. It is helpful for us to know the total number of ships visited, so please include that information in your report. Please do not hesitate to contact with any questions about the survey. A compilation of the results of this report will be published and circulated.
