A panel of industry professionals selected Orrin H. Ingram and Captain James (Jim) McNamara to receive awards at this year’s event, which raised over $875,000 from its 740 attendees.
For his contributions to his company’s maritime employees' health, safety and integrity, SCI awarded Orrin H. Ingram, President and CEO of Ingram Industries and Chairman and CEO of Ingram Barge Company, its Silver Bell Award. SCI honored Captain James (Jim) McNamara with a Lifetime Achievement Award for over six decades of service benefiting the maritime workforce.

Captain Richard Phillips, recipient of SCI’s 2009 Courage at Sea Award, introduced via video recording The Campaign for SCI: Securing the Future of Mariners, extolling the value of SCI to the men and women who work on the water. With a goal to raise $8 million, SCI’s Campaign seeks strengthen long-term investments, positioning the Institute for robust operation into the future. Thanks to the generosity of early donors, SCI has raised $5.4 million for the Campaign thus far.
