“I am pleased to announce that on December 17 at 12pm, The Seamen’s Church Institute (SCI) will again open wide the doors of our International Seafarers’ Center to celebrate the joy, warmth, and wonder of the holidays with our Port Newark and Newark communities,” notes Matthew Morse, Director of SCI’s International Seafarers’ Center.

“On that day, SCI will offer every attendee a brief, joyful, and inclusive holiday service, live holiday music, Carols, and food and drink to share and enjoy together. It’s our small way of showing gratitude to the Newark and Port Newark communities for the support we receive all year round.”

Morse continued: “The holiday season is always lovely, but for many it is also one of the most stressful and isolating times of the year. This is true of the seafarers we are privileged to serve, and it is also true of the Port Newark and Newark communities we are so proud to be a part of. This event offers peace, joy, and community to all. Those things are precious all year ‘round, and especially at this time of the year. SCI takes pride in offering them with no strings attached.”
