The Mike Rushing Legacy Service Award was created by the Towing Vessel Inspection Bureau (TVIB) in 2023 to honor individuals who exemplify the compassion, dedication, and community spirit that Mike demonstrated throughout his life. Each year’s honoree serves as a role model, showcasing a commitment to service both within the maritime industry and their home community. In recognition of the award recipient—and in partnership with the Seamen’s Church Institute (SCI)—a financial contribution is made to the SCI’s Ministry on the River program.
