Welcome to Christmas at Sea

The Seamen’s Church Institute’s International Seafarers’ Center, located in Port Newark, New Jersey, serves seafarers in the Port of New York & New Jersey, the second-largest port complex in the United States.

Our Chaplains make daily visits to vessels, bringing fellowship and pastoral care.

SCI warmly welcomes seafarers to our Center: a friendly, safe, and comfortable facility for recreation and relaxation. At the Center, we offer access to Wi-Fi, money transfer services, an ATM machine, and transportation to the Mills at Jersey Gardens for shopping.

SCI’s Center for Mariner Advocacy (CMA) provides legal services for seafarers around the world. If you need help or advice, email [email protected], with a description of the issue, and include your location, ship’s name, and country of registry.

Christmas at Sea (CAS) is SCI’s tradition of gifting handmade garments to seafarers at Christmastime. CAS is our way of expressing gratitude for the vital work you do. Over 1,000 volunteers from the United States and beyond donate over 28,000 gifts annually.

Our volunteers delight in seeing photographs of seafarers wearing their knits and crochets; please take pictures and share them with us at [email protected]. Thank you!
