SCI Chaplains serve the domestic maritime industry, extending support from shoreside staff of maritime companies to professional mariners working aboard towboats, offshore vessels, harbor tugs, buoy tenders, and dredges. Additionally, SCI coordinates a network of Chaplain Associates along the inland waterways, enabling swift responses when we are called for assistance.
Equipped with training and certification in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM), SCI Chaplains and Chaplain Associates offer crucial support during crises. Moreover, our chaplain network is proficient in suicide prevention through programs like SafeTALK and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), as well as providing counseling for career and family planning. They can also facilitate important lifecycle events such as marriages, baptisms, and funerals, along with maritime ceremonies like vessel christenings.
